Thursday, May 7, 2026 | Marion Center, PA - The Indiana track and Field teams competed Thursday at the 100th annual Indiana County Meet. The boys team came away victorious in the meet winning with a total of 115 points edging out Marion Center (90.5 points) and United (90 points). Kaiden Branan continued his record breaking season this time setting the County Meet record on his way to winning the 800 meters in a time of 1:56.76. That mark breaks the previous record of 1:59.5 run in 1991 by Blairsville's Jon Thoma. Branan also teamed with Devon Burney, Lucas Fields and Liam Templeton to break the meet record in the boys 4x400 relay. Indiana's time of 3:25.21 shattered the previous record of 3:29.1 that had been held by a previous Indiana squad set in 1988. In recognition of his stellar day, Branan was named the male track athlete of the meet. Indiana's only other event winner was Liam Templeton in the 400 meters with a time of 50.33.
The girls team placed 2nd overall on the day losing to a tough United squad by a score of 143 -137. Gracie Reed was named the female track athlete of the meet as a result of her victories in the 100, 200, and 400 meter races. Reed's performance of 58.62 in the 400 meters bested Abbie Huey's previous meet record of 59.95 which had been set in 2023. In the 100 meters Reed ran a time of 12.91 enroute to her win. She finished her day taking the 200 meters in a time of 26.54. Kayla Baker helped the girls' cause, picking up a win in the 1600 meters (5:42.39) while Morgan Blystone took first in the 800 meters (2:26.01). The girls also picked up wins in both the 4x800 and 4x400 relays. Blystone, Baker, Aubrey Hunger, and Kaylee Onder ran a time of 10:01.46 in the 4x800. To close out the meet on the track Blystone, Onder, Hunger, and Emory Derry ran a season's best time of 4:21.88 in taking the 4x400.
The team's now await word on who will qualify for the District Meet to be held next Wednesday at Slippery Rock University. The top 24 entries in each event will qualify for that meet with entries due by 8:00 pm Saturday night.
