Indiana Has Strong First Invitational

Saturday, April 11, 2026 | Hempfield, PA - The Indiana track and field teams opened up the invitational portion of their season Saturday at the Latrobe Boys and Hempfield Girls Invitational meets held at Hempfield. 

Kaiden Branan and Liam Templeton continued their fine junior seasons turning in some additional stellar performances. Branan and Templeton took 1st and 2nd place in the 800 meter race. In a back and forth race Branan came away with the victory running a time of 1:55.65 which is the second fastest time in school history. Templeton took second in the race running the third fastest time in school history with his time of 1:56.37.

Branan and Templeton teamed up with fellow junior Devon Burney and senior Lucas Fields to win the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:26.89. That time moved the quartet into 5th place all time in IHS history.
Additional medalists for the boys included Burney who took third place in the 400 with a time of 51.84 and the boys 4x800 relay who took fifth overall. That squad included Jacob Neal, Jackson Rice, Billy Taylor and Gavin Kelly who turned in a time of 9:16.58. All told on the day, the boys team amassed a total of 36 points which was good enough for 6th place in the field of 23 teams.
Gracie Reed made her season debut Saturday for the girls running the 200 and 400 meter races. Reed took second place in the 200 meter race running a 26.23 and fourth place in the 400 meters with a time of 60.51.  Morgan Blystone also earned an individual medal taking 5th place in the 800 meters with her time of 2:25.93.
The girls also medaled in the 4x800 and 4x400 relays. The team of Kaylee Onder, Blystone, Aubrey Hunger and Clara Weigner took 5th place in the 4x800 with a time of 10:42.37. In the 4x400 Onder, Hunger, Sophiana Sidikou and Emory Derry finished 6th with their time of 4:36.68.

With their 17 points the girls took 10th place overall.
