Saturday, April 29, 2023 | Marion Center, PA - The Indiana County Track & Field Meet has been a staple of Indiana County for 97 years and counting. A meet which brings together all schools within the Indiana County lines such as; Apollo-Ridge, Homer Center, Indiana Area, Marion Center, Penns Manor, Purchase Line, River Valley & United. We may have witnessed the most dominant performance in the 97-year history of the meet out of Senior Abbie Huey, a Georgetown commit, who finished the meet capturing four, yes I said four, meet records!
Huey broke the records in the 200 meter (24.93), 400 meter (58.95), 4x400 meter relay team (Cadence Ullman, Kate Mill, Eve Kuzneski & Abbie Huey - 4:08.97) and in the 100 meter (11.94). With her time in the 100 meter dash, Huey also broke her own school record. Abbie additionally took home honors as the Outstanding Track Performance Award on the girls' side of the meet.
The Indiana girls' team finished 1st overall in the meet. Other big finishes for the girls' team include Addy Fry in the 800 meter (2nd place - 2:33.52), Kaylee Onder in the 1600 meter run (2nd place - 5:53.82), Emerson Davis in the 3200 meter (1st place - 12:42.07), Hannah Cowburn in the 100 meter hurdles (1st place - 16.21), Plenitude Ylonfoun in the 100 meter hurdles (2nd place - 17.20), Hannah Cowburn in the 300 meter hurdles (1st place - 50.88), 4x100 meter relay (1st place - 51.36), 4x800 meter relay (2nd place - 10:06.32), Cadence Ullman in the high jump (1st place - 5-2), Kate Mill in the long jump (2nd place - 14-6.75), Emily Ferraro in both the long jump (3rd place - 14-2.5) and the triple jump (3rd place - 31-2), Alexa Wheeler and Grace Leeper both went 8-0 in the pole vault capturing 3rd & 4th place, Taylor Wood in the javelin (2nd place - 96-4) and Katie Kovalchick in the discus (3rd place - 102-1), javelin (3rd place - 96-3) and shot put (5th place - 33-0.75.
On the other side, the Indiana boys' team finished 2nd overall in the meet. Big finishes for the boys' include Jacob Gill in the 200 meter (2nd place - 22.63) and 400 meter (3rd place - 53.07), Jon Berzonsky in the 400 meter (2nd place - 52.80) and 3200 meter (3rd place - 10:49.54). Will Berzonsky in the 800 meter (1st place - 2:06.97), Seth Weaver in the 1600 meter (1st place 4:41.29), John Trevorrow in the 1600 meter (5th place - 5:00.26), Jacob Kileen in the 300 meter hurdles (3rd place - 44.90), Matt Blystone in the 300 meter hurdles 45.87, the 4x400 meter relay team (1st place - 3:35.27), the 4x800 meter relay team (1st place - 8:38.85), Levi Porter in the long jump (2nd place - 19-9) and the triple jump (1st place - 42-1.5), Charlie Weber in the pole vault (1st place - 13-6) and Ben Cochran in the discus (4th place - 113-10) and the shot put (2nd place - 44-10.25).
