Thursday, May 9, 2024 | Indiana, PA - The Indiana softball team finished their regular season on Thursday with a 7-0 loss to Ligonier Valley. Indiana finsihed the season with a record of 13-6 (10-0 in section). Big wins for Indiana came in sweeps over section foes Knoch, West Mifflin and McKeesport.
Indiana draws the #3 seed in the tournament and will receive a first round bye. Indiana will face the winner of #6 Belle Vernon vs. #11 Blackhawk. Belle Vernon finished 13-6 overall (8-4 in section) and has outscored opponents 152-94. Blackhawk finished the regular season with a record of 8-7 overall (6-6 in section) and has outscored opponents 118-86 on the season.
Indiana has some strong leaders on this team.
Olivia Zimmerman leads the way at the dish batting .484 with 30 hits, 25 RBIs, and three home runs. Following her is junior
Maggie Cunningham who is having a great season offensively hitting .403 with 25 hits, 24 runs scored, 17 RBIs and five home runs. Senior
Ella Myers is hitting .375 with 21 hits, 13 runs scored and nine RBIs. Sophomore
Hannah Ianarelli is batting .358 with 19 hits and 15 RBIs. Senior
Haley Hamilton is hitting .352 with 19 hits and eight RBIs. Freshman
Kaylee Cass is hitting .298 with 14 hits, 12 runs, 16 RBIs and three home runs. Junior
Addie Stossel has 17 hits, 10 runs and 12 RBIs on the season. Cunningham leads Indiana on the base paths with seven stolen bases, followed by Cass with five and Myers with four. Zimmerman is a complete force in the circle, sporting a 1.21 ERA with 11 wins and 143 strikeouts in only 87 innings pitched.
