Thursday, March 28, 2024 | Indiana, PA - With a little help from mother nature,
Trevor Smith smacked a ball to left field in the 7th inning of Thursday's game when Indiana was down 7-6 with the bases loaded and one out when the Dubois left fielder lost the ball in the sun, allowing the ball to fall and Indiana ultimately plated two runners to win the game 8-7. The hit was Smith's second of the game and came at the perfect time, especially when the senior was playing the game on his birthday. Indiana was kept in the game behind the arm of
Sullivan VanHoose who came into the ballgame as a relief pitcher in the first inning and ultimately went on to pitch 4 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run while striking out nine beavers in the contest. Fellow relievers
Andrew McGee and
Ben Ryan were called on later in the game to keep Indiana in the game and both combined for 1 2/3 innings on the rubber while striking out two and allowing zero hits to the Beavers. Senior
Ben Ryan also went 2/3 on the day with two singles and two RBIs.
Andrew McGee went 3/4 with a double and two singles while scoring one run.
Tristan Redinger went 2/2 with a double, single and an RBI.
Charlie Manzi,
Mark Collinger,
Kadin Homer and
Michael Tortorella all scored runs for Indiana with Collinger, Tortorella and
Ethan Shank all having RBIs in the contest.
