Indiana Victorious After Friday Night Thriller

Friday, September 19, 2025 | Indiana, PA - The Indiana Indians did not have a lead for much of the game, but they did have a lead when it counted. It was a back and forth affair with the Trojans from Derry, ultimately Indiana came out on top by a score of 41-34 in a thrilling game on Friday night at Andy Kuzneski Field. Derry got on the board first scoring in the first 10 minutes of the game. Indiana and freshman Jace Brocious quickly answered back with a 73-yard kickoff return touchdown (only the 36th in Indiana's history) to bring the game even at seven points a piece. In the second quarter, junior Roman Jones scored from six yards out to bring the score to within one with Derry leading 14-13. Derry commanded the ball and went into halftime leading 20-13. Roman Jones once again took the ball from 38-yards out for a rushing touchdown when the second half began to bring the score to 20-19 with Derry leading. Darius Webb caused the only turnover in the game on the next possession recovering a mishandled Derry rush to set Indiana up with great field position. A couple plays later senior tailback Elijah Thomas broke a 45-yard run to the house to give Indiana the lead 27-20. Derry answered on consecutive possesions before sophomore signal caller Jason Strack ran a draw 26-yards to set Indiana up with a lead 35-34 with just over five minutes remaining. The Indiana defense held strong thanks in part to some great defense by sophomore Ben Stephens, Jace Brocious, sophomore Derek Oakes and senior Jacob Snyder on the drive forcing the Trojans to turn the ball over on downs. Indiana would run some plays getting the clock to tick under two minutes when Roman Jones took his third touchdown of the day in from 33-yards out. The Trojans would take over with 34 seconds left on the clock with no timeouts. Some chunk plays out of bounds later they found themselves on the Indiana 36-yard line with a final heave to the end zone that would be knocked down by Brocious and senior Trevon Joseph on the coverage.

Final Stats

Elijah Thomas - 13 carries, 75 yards, TD | 1 rec. 7 yards
