Wednesday, August 30, 2023 | Export, PA - The Indiana boys' golf team narrowly defeated last season's section champions, the Penn Trafford Warriors on Wednesday night by a score of 183-192 at Manor Valley Golf Club.
Penn Trafford is led by former WPIAL Champion Nick Turowski who shot a match leading 33 (-3) for the day. Turowski's score wasn't enough as Indiana's team efforts led by
Harrison Martineau (-1) and
Ryan Bell (-1) were enough to secure the victory.
Trevor Todd and
Philip Bell both scored a 37 (+1) while
Caden Force (+3) and
Hunter Martin (+8) rounded out the scoring for the Indians.
Last season, Indiana split with Penn Trafford on the year, first beating the Warriors on home territory by three strokes before dropping a match six days later on Penn Trafford soil by only nine strokes.
As it stands, Indiana and Penn Trafford are both tied for first place in the section with the regular season nearly halfway over. Indiana's next run in with the talented Warriors falls on the last regular season match of the year which could prove to be the match for the section on Indiana soil at the Indiana Country Club on September 14th.
