Thursday, January 30, 2025 | Latrobe, PA - The Indiana Girls Basketball team traveled to Latrobe for a crucial section matchup on Thursday night. At stake for Indiana was 2nd place in section for the time being, with the opportunity to set themselves on a collision course with Penn Trafford for a section championship game next week.
In what was a back and forth affair, the Indians found a way to yet again come out on top of this heated rivalry match up. Similar to their last meeting that occurred earlier this month, which Indiana won by a final score of 48-44, the Wildcats got off to a fast start against the Indians, at one point holding a 20-11 lead in the 2nd quarter, before Indiana made a run going to the halftime break to take a 29-27 lead. Indiana owned the start of the 3rd quarter, starting the session on a 4-0 run, but the Wildcats responded well with their full court pressure to spark a 18-6 run, which allowed Latrobe to carry a 45-39 lead into the 4th quarter. Fortunately for Indiana, they were able to change their fate with full court pressure of their own, immediately cutting the lead to 2, which allowed the see-saw battle to begin. After regulation was completed, the score was still tied at 53, but Indiana exploded early in overtime with a 4-0 run that saw them eventually extend their lead to 8, at which point the Indians could begin to celebrate their new 15-3 (9-1) record. The final score of the game was Indiana 62, Latrobe 57.
Addy Hutton and
Emily Betsinger both led the way for Indiana with career highs, each scoring 17 points.
Julia Antonacci also made her way to double figures with 11.
Emily Ferraro contributed eight, while
Stella Stossel had five, and
Laken Kugler tallied five.
Lelise Allison was a crucial contributor in the game on the defensive end of the floor.
