Thursday, September 28, 2023 | New Kensington, PA -  The 2023 Indiana girls' tennis team continues to shine in many ways. Two doubles teams comprised of four Indiana girls' tennis players advanced to the WPIAL Doubles Championships that are to be held at Bethel Park on Wednesday, October 4th. Anna Buterbaugh, Kate Lehman, Eve Kuzneski and Tess Kuzneski all advanced as they were in the top three finishers from the WPIAL AA Section 1 section. In some unordinary fashion, teammates were turned opponents when the two teams of doubles had to face off in the final match of the sectional with Buterbaugh and Lehman defeating the team of the Kuzneskis by a score of 6-2, 6-2. 

Head Coach Matt Neil had this to say about the match, "All four girls played exceptional tennis and conducted themselves with integrity during all their matches. I'm proud of what they accomplished as tennis players and I'm proud of them for the good human beings that they are. They've all worked hard to get here, and their efforts clearly show on the court.

It's remarkable that the only way our teams would have played each other was if they won their way through the entire tournament to meet in the finals, and that's exactly what they did. Anna and Kate should be proud of winning the section championship, finishing 1st and finishing with a perfect tournament record and Tess and Eve should be proud of finishing 2nd as well as defeating a doubles team from Greensburg Central Catholic that included the top singles player in the section. I'm excited about what the girls can accomplish at the WPIAL Championships!"
