Indiana's Championship Defense Comes to a Halt; Drops Sunday Matchup with Knightmare

Sunday, May 14, 2023 | Indiana, PA - On Sunday, the Indiana County Warriors played in their third consecutive State semifinal against Knightmare out of Lancaster County.  The Warriors put up a good fight and an incredible effort but came up short 31-26 against a tough, well-coached team.

The early stages saw both teams throwing everything at each other.  Knightmare went up twice, but neither lead lasted long as the Warriors fought back.  Then Knightmare scored twice late in the first half to take a 26-14 halftime lead.

The second half started as the first half ended with Knightmare stretching the lead to 31-14.  Then Indiana County found their confidence and put the pressure on Knightmare for the rest of the game.  Two scores brought it back to 31-26 with five minutes left to play.  Unfortunately, Knightmare did an effective job of keeping the ball away from the Warriors in the last few minutes and closed out a tense victory.

This was another successful season for the Warriors.  Three straight semifinals shows the level of consistency they have built in the program.  Unfortunately, after a relatively healthy season, their luck changed in the playoffs with some key players being forced out.

The future is bright for the Warriors.  This year's senior class was small, so most of the team will be back next season.

Head coaches, Todd Raible and Zubin Billimoria are incredibly proud of all the players.  Also special thanks to Ally Hunt for all her hard work and dedication, and Alex Ball for managing the team.  The Indiana County fans are the best in the State!  Their loud and enthusiastic support helped the team keep going all season.  The Warriors will be back in 2024 to make another run at a State Championship!
