Monday, February 20, 2023 | Indiana, PA - The Indiana girls' basketball team punched their ticket to the WPIAL Tournament officially on last Wendesday when they were selected for the 6th seed in the Class 5A bracket and will face off against the 11th seeded Hampton Talbots on
Tuesday, February 21st at 8 PM with the host site being
Fox Chapel High School. Indiana finished the year with an overall record of 15-7 and a section record of 11-1, their only loss in the section came from the hands of Plum in the last regular season contest by a score of 58-52.
The Team
Indiana has had to shuffle some things around over the course of their last couple of games with the lineup, but remained strong nonetheless. Indiana boasts two inside forces in 6'5 Forward,
Eve Fiala and 6'4 Forward,
Katie Kovalchick. Fiala nearly averaged a double-double this year scoring over 14 points and hauling in just under 10 rebounds per game. Kovalchick on the other hand averaged 16.1 PPG and 6.5 rebounds per game. Junior Guard
Bella Antonacci did a little bit of everything this year with a stat line of 8.6 PPG, 4.5 assists, & 5 rebounds per game. A true steadfast on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball while also shooting an astonishing 37% from the perimeter. Defense is the name of the game for the Indians, holding their opponents to 44.5 PPG on the year and having two impressive streaks on the year, the first being a five-game stretch from January 6-19 where opponents were held to just 33.8 PPG and the other being a four-game stretch from January 24-February 2 where they held their opponents to just 33 PPG. The Opponent
Hampton finished the season with a 14-8 overall record and finished 4th in the Class 5A Section 2 Section with a section record of 7-5. The Talbots average 49.6 PPG while giving up just 45 PPG. Highlights for the Talbots were wins over Mars in an away contest where they won 58-53 and their victory over Shaler by a score of 41-32. Hampton is led by their lone Senior, Claire Rodgers. Rodgers is averagin about 8.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, including a career high 19 points in their victory over Fox Chapel on January 30.

The Indians will still be the "home" team at the neutral site Fox Chapel High School due to their higher seed in the matchup. Tickets can be purchased at the door ($7 for adults or $5 for students) or be purchased online
