Indiana Area School District & IUP Announce "Indiana Community Day" at IUP Football Game

Thursday, October 12, 2023 | Indiana, PA - Indiana Area School District and IUP are excited to announce the annual Indiana Community Day at the IUP Football game on Saturday October 14 as the Crimson Hawks take on the Edinboro Fightin' Scots at Miller Stadium starting at 2:00 PM.

"I am grateful everyday to have the opportunity to be a part of such an incredible community.  The caring and compassion in this community is impressive, and the cooperation by all of the different organizations is so important." said Indiana Area School District Superintendent Rob Heinrich. "Getting the chance to celebrate the community's accomplishment of the inclusive playground at East Pike Elementary led by Bailey Adams and Brandy Pavlick while cheering on the Hawks is a great example of the positive power of this community. I am so proud to be a part of it!" Graham Adams and Myles Pavlick will be joining Mr. Heinrich at midfield prior to the game for the ceremonial coin toss as honorary coin flippers.

Every student in grades K-8 in the Indiana School District will receive one (1) free ticket to get into the game during the school day on Thursday (10/12) or Friday (10/13) to be handed out in homeroom or classroom teachers.

Parents, family members and friends are also invited to the game but will have to make arrangements to purchase their own tickets either online or at the gate. Online tickets can be purchased HERE.

"A promotion that has been well received over the years, we continually rely on the Indiana community to provide support for the IUP athletic department, our teams and student-athletes," IUP director of athletics Todd Garzarelli said. "Continuing our partnership with Indiana Area School District with initiatives such as this, thanks to the generous support of Mark Arbuckle Nissan, helps support our surrounding community by providing the next generation of students and student-athletes a chance to see a collegiate athletic event in person."

Participating students and families are encouraged to wear either IUP or IASD attire and should plan to get into the game early to avoid lines.
