Wednesday, December 14, 2022 | Indiana, Punxsutawney & Uniontown, PA - Indiana athletics came out victorious in 6 of 8 contests on Wednesday night, including 8th grade boys' basketball, junior high wrestling, boys' & girls' swimming and diving, varsity wrestling and varsity boys' basketball.
Boys' Basketball
The Indiana varsity boys' basketball team defeated Punxsutawney on Wednesday night by a score of 51-47. Leading the charge for the Indians was
Stanford Webb (17 points) followed by
Jaden Petrovich (10 points),
Evan Brocious (9 points),
Trevor Todd (6 points) and
Gavin Homer (6 points). Indiana trailed Punxsutawney by 34-33 at half but came out of the half with defense in mind and only allowed the Chucks to score 13 points in the second half.
The JV boys' basketball team took their second consecutive loss on Wednesday by a score of 51-29 against Punxsutawney.
The 8th grade boys' basketball team defeated Armstrong by a score of 49-15. Leading the way for the Indians was A. Webb (12 points) and D. Webb (12 points).
The 7th grade boys' basketball lost to Armstrong by a score of 53-33. Leading the way for the Indians was Raykes (8 points) and Boiano (5 points).
Swimming & Diving
The IHS swimmers set out on the road Wednesday to Uniontown challenging Laurel Highlands and brought home another victory, along with 2 record-breaking wins in both the girls' and boys' 100yd Breaststroke.
Peyton Scott (Sophomore) claimed her spot on the record board coming in at a time of 1:06.04 beating the old record of 1:07.46.
Preston Kessler (Sophomore) achieved record-breaking status with a time of 1:00.78 beating the old record of 1:01.61.
In addition to breaking records many of our IHS swimmers so early in the season, declare their spots with automatic qualifying times for the WPIAL Championship to be held in March.

Austin Schawl earning the 1st place spot, led the diving team to a triumphant match. Coming in 2nd place for the girls' was

Matthew Blystone's, 3rd
Kat McLaurine and
Charlie Manzi.
This brings IHS's season to a 2-0 record. The team will travel to Greater Latrobe Senior High next Monday December 19th to take on both Latrobe and Butler in their first and only Tri-meet.
Wrestling
The Indiana Wrestling Team got there first win on the season 54-16 over section foe Riverview. Winners were

Griffin Prebish. Indians are 1-2, 1-0 in the section. Next match is Dec 21 at home against Derry as it's Elementary & Alumni night.
The jr. high wrestling team also defeated Riverview by a score of 45-16.
