Wednesday, November 23, 2022 | Indiana, PA - Four Indiana Area High School student-athletes signed their National Letter of Intent in November to announce their committment to participate in collegiate athletics.
Eve Fiala - Dayton University - Women's Basketball
Senior Eve Fiala has announced her commitment to play Women's Basketball for the Dayton Flyers next season. Eve is a 6'5 Center at Indiana High School who helped to lead the Indiana Girls' Basketball team to a 20-4 record in the 2021-22 season. Eve earned All-State and All-Conference honors the past three high school seasons.
Sophia Garzarelli - Indiana University of Pennsylvania - Women's Soccer
Senior Sophia Garzarell has announced her commitment to play Women's Soccer for the IUP Crimson Hawks next season. Sophia is a Forward at Indiana High School who helped to lead the Indians to a 6-10-1 record in the 2022 Fall season. Garzarelli was an important piece to the Indians offense which propelled Indiana girls' soccer to their first playoff birth in over 10 years. Garzarelli is a two-time All-Section selection.
Abbie Huey - Georgetown University - Track & Field
Senior Abbie Huey has announced her commitment to participate in Track & Field for the Georgetown Hoyas next season. Huey is a standout two-sport athlete at Indiana High School competing in Volleyball and Track & Field for the Indians. Huey was selected as a first team All-Conference (WPIAL) and All-Section for the 2022 Fall volleyball season. Huey broke school records in the 200 M (25.83), 60 M (8.11) , and 400 M (59.16) in the 2021-22 Winter track season. Huey was also a WPIAL champion in the 200 and 400 for the Spring 2022 track & field season.
Katie Kovalchick - Washington & Jefferson University - Women's Basketball
Senior Katie Kovalchick has annoucned her commitment to play Women's Basketball for the W&J Presidents next season. Kovalchick is a standout two-sport athlete at Indiana High School competing in Volleyball and Girls' Basketball for the Indians. Kovalchick was selected as a second team All-Section for the 2022 Fall volleyball season. Kovalchick was selected as a BIG 56 first team All-Section in the 2021-22 Winter season. Kovalchick helped to lead the Indians to a 20-4 record last year as well.
The IHS Athletic Department expects to have more athletes sign their NLI in the upcoming months.
