Indiana Finishes Top 4 in Both Cross Country Sections After Super Section Meet

Tuesday, September 23, 2025 | Indiana, PA - The Indiana Area XC team delivered a storng performance at the inagural Super Section Championship Meet held at IUP and hosted by Indiana. The meet was comprised of all nine teams from WPIAL Section 1 and was created to determine section champions in one singular meet rather than teams traveling individually to each school for several meets across the entirety of a season. 

Competeting against a tough field of runners from our section with wet and rainy running conditions and a challenging course, the meet showcased endurance, strategy and team spirit. 

In the varsity girls' race, in a field of 49 runners, Kayla Baker continued her outstanding season with a 6th place overall finish clocking in at 20:10. Her strong performance combined with the efforts of Clara Weigner (14 overall | 21:13), Morgan Blystone (17th overall | 21.19), Kaylee Onder (27th overall | 22:37), Emory Derry (30th overall | 23:21), Aubrey Hunger (35th overall | 24:21) and Isabella Grim (43rd overall | 26:12) helped to solidify Indiana with a third place finish in the section with a total of 83 points scored, trailing only Hempfield (2nd place | 49 points) and Norwin (1st place | 20 points). 

In the varsity boys' race, in a field of 53 runners, Kaiden Branan led the way with a 5th place overall finish with a time of 16:22. His strong performance combined with the efforts of Liam Templeton (13th overall | 17:19), Billy Taylor (27th overall | 19:08), Jacob Neal (31st overall | 19:41), Austin Collins (32nd overall | 20:10), Gavin Kelly (35th overall | 20:31) and Elias Herman (42nd overall | 21:18) to round out the scoring for Indiana to solidify them with a fourth place finish in the section with a total of 103 points scored trailing only Greater Latrobe (86), Norwin (38) and Hempfield (31). 

Head Coach Jamie Branan praised the athletes for their determination and teamwork - "We knew theweather had a chance to be bad with rain in the forecast, but our team pushed through." The team now turns its attention to Cralisle where they hope toe carry their momentum forward and continue climbing the rankings.
