September 6, 2022 | Indiana, PA - The IHS boys soccer team won its section match with Armstong on a rainy Tuesday evening with the score of 3-2.
Senior Midfielder
Lee Rosenberger was electric on Tuesday night (lightning pun). Scoring a goal on his own and inadvertently "assisting" with an own goal to bring the Indians two key goals in their 3-2 victory over Armstrong. With just under 28 minutes left in the 1st half, Rosenberger set the tone with a goal, putting the Indians up by 1. Roughly 18 minutes later, Armstrong gave Indiana a gift with an own goal by the Armstrong goalie.Â
Armstrong wouldn't go down without a fight as they snuck a goal in late in the 1st half to bring the score to 2-1 and then scored midway through the 2nd half to tie the score, 2-2. With 13:00 left in the 2nd half, Junior Goalkeeper
Alex Bauer took matters in his own hands as he soared through the air and put his body on the line against an Armstrong forward to save a potential go-ahead goal. Bauer and the Indiana defense with the likes of
Tristan Redinger and
Noah Weigner would then hold Armstrong for the remainder of regulation.Â
Just before the end of the first overtime period, Sophomore Midfielder
Russell Crane had a breakaway and was able to cross up the goaltender to score the coveted "golden goal" which gave Indiana the lead and ultimately the win.
